All good mysteries need an animal. They help keep the protagonist and the reader centered, and focused on the important things in life. My rescued Golden, Clue, makes sure I get up in the morning and stay on schedule (preferably her schedule) all day. She even makes sure I take regular breaks from writing — to let her in and out, and to dispense treats. At least I get up from my keyboard!
She was only 11 months old when I rescued her from Connecticut shelter and brought her home. A graduate of 3 — yes 3 — beginning obedience classes, shehad me well trained. Clue crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 15, ready to play with Max, Chauncey and Honey.
